How to Connect Operator10 (Wastewater/Water) or Synexus Pretreatment to an Existing Pervasive License Database
Upon startup, the application will attempt to connect to the server hosting the license database in order to validate itself.
These instructions explain how to connect a client PC running Operator10 Wastewater/Water or Synexus Pretreatment — with Pervasive already installed (see the Warning below) — to a Pervasive database server that hosts an existing license database.
Each AllMax product has its own shared license database in Pervasive. Sharing a single license database across all installations of a given product is required — using duplicate licenses violates the AllMax Software LLC End User License Agreement (EULA).
If your database is in the SQL format, see the instructions on connecting to an existing SQL license database here: How to Connect Operator10/Synexus to SQL License Database
For instructions on creating a license database in a SQL instance, please see the article here: How to Create an Operator10/Synexus License Database
For instructions on installing and configuring SQL Server Express 2022 for AllMax Software products, please see the article here: Install and Configure SQL Server for AllMax Software Products
Before connecting your Operator10 Wastewater/Water or Synexus Pretreatment application to the Pervasive database server, ensure that either the Pervasive Workgroup application (most common) or the Pervasive Client application (less common) is installed as a service on the client PC. This is required to facilitate communication with the database. The number of remaining Pervasive license activations determines whether Pervasive can be installed on a new PC. To check your remaining activations, have access to the database server ready and contact AllMax Support at 800-670-1867, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM ET.
This article is intended for existing customers who have not yet migrated their databases to SQL format and need to connect a new installation of their AllMax product to an existing Pervasive license database. To learn about upgrading to SQL, please contact your AllMax account manager. All new clients use the Microsoft SQL database engine. For setup instructions, see: Install and Configure SQL Server for AllMax Software Products
1. Launch Operator10 Wastewater/Water or Synexus Pretreatment.
2. If the application has never connected to the Pervasive server hosting your Operator10 (Wastewater/Water) or Synexus Pretreatment license database before, you will be presented with the No License Found window as in the image below:

3. Select the option "I already have a license on another computer"
4. Enter the name of the server hosting your license database into the server name field (MyServerNameHere is shown above as an example). As an alternative, if DNS is not functional, an IP address can be used.
5. Press the TAB key on your keyboard, and the green checkbox in the top-right should become enabled if the server was found.
6. Click the green checkbox, and the application will attempt to connect to the Pervasive server instance, and validate the license database.
7. If successful, the database selection window will be shown, where the user will need to select their database, and then click the Open Database button.
If the user cannot open the selected database in step 7, ensure that the user has been added to the application's User Security section.
