Affected data and features: Parts, Work Templates, Tasks, Departments, DataPort, Auto-Printing, Scheduled Automatic Backups, Custom Reports, OPC/DDE Interface for Antero.
When updating an Antero database in version 4, 5, or 6 to the Antero 7 format, there will be changes to some of the existing data, and some features have been removed from the application. See this document for a comprehensive list of changes that will occur.
Data Changes
-
Parts
- Unlisted Parts defined on a purchase order in legacy versions of Antero will be added to the Antero 7 Parts list. This allows the application to retain historical records for purchase orders. This can, in some databases, cause the Antero 7 Parts list to have many additional records. For example: if there are 500 tracked parts in your legacy database's version of the Parts list, and there are 200 unlisted Parts that were defined on various Purchase orders, after the conversion the total number of Parts in Antero 7 will be 700.
-
Work Templates
- Antero 7 will no longer support multiple Equipment and Task combinations per Work Template. All Work Templates going forward will be defined by one Equipment, and one Task. During the conversion, if the application encounters an existing Work Template matching the above description, it will breakout each Equipment and Task combination to its own Work Template, so that for every Work Template, there is one Equipment, and one task. This can, in some cases, cause the Work Template count to increase significantly. If the additional Work Templates and the Work Orders generated from them are not needed, they can be safely deleted after the conversion.
Deleting a Work Template will also delete any active Work Orders generated from it, in addition to deleting the Work Template. Historical data, such as the completed Work Orders and history for the Work Orders generated from the deleted Work Templates are retained, as well as instrument readings, completed notes, etc.
-
Tasks
- Tasks with duplicate names encountered in the Work Template conversion will be added to the Tasks list with a unique number appended to their names. For example: the conversion tool encounters five tasks named Truck PM. Tasks in Antero 7 cannot have duplicate names, so it will add each of the five Truck PM tasks to the Task list as the following: Truck PM, Truck PM(01), Truck PM(02), Truck PM(03), Truck PM(04). If the duplicate tasks are not needed, they can be safely deleted after the conversion.
Deleting a Task that has been applied to one or more Work Templates will also cause the Work Template(s) to be deleted, along with any active Work Orders generated from it, in addition to the Task. Historical data, such as the completed Work Orders and history for the Work Orders generated from the deleted Work Templates are retained, as well as instrument readings, completed notes, etc.
-
Departments
- Antero 7 will no longer allow setting User Security on a per-department basis. User Security in Antero 7 will be set depending on the sections the user has access to. Example: if a user's security level is View-Only for the Antero 7 Work Management section, they can navigate to Work Management and view everything, but they cannot make any changes in the section or create Work Orders.
Feature Changes
-
OPC/DDE Interface for Antero 7
- The OPC/DDE Interface is now a separate application that will need to be installed on your SCADA server to enable the collection of values from OPC/DDE tags. The OPC/DDE setup installer can be located in the Antero application installation directory.
-
Custom Reports
- Custom reports created for legacy versions of Antero will not work in Antero 7, and will not be included in the conversion.
-
Adding Users via Active Directory
- Users will now be added by their domain username to Antero User Security by retrieving their domain account from Active Directory if one is available.
-
Automated Scheduled Backups
- Automated Scheduled Backups are no longer an option in Antero 7. Database backups must be made manually using the Antero 7 backup utility in order to capture all data.
-
Automatic Printing of Scheduled Work Orders
- Antero 7 will not feature auto-printing of scheduled Work Orders.
-
Antero Service
- The Antero Agent has been replaced by the new Antero Service. This service will be responsible for automatically creating scheduled Work Orders based on the scheduling options defined in a Work Template. The Antero Service must be installed on a PC with access to the Antero database for scheduled Work Orders to be generated automatically, and the setup installer for it can be found in the Antero application installation directory.
-
Internet Access
- Antero 7 only requires an internet connection during the initial setup. Once a product code has been entered and accepted, internet access is no longer required.
-
DataPort
- Antero 7 does not support DataPort.
