Scheduling Work Templates by Days in Service and/or Instrument Scheduling provides users with the versatility to create work orders in various ways. Work Templates scheduled by Days in Service are based on an interval schedule, accounting for the number of days the equipment is actively in use during that interval. In contrast, Work Templates scheduled by Instrument Scheduling are triggered by readings from meters or gauges, reflecting the instruments' current usage levels.
Days in Service/Instrument: The Days in Service/Instrument option allows users to combine the two scheduling methods for enhanced flexibility. When both methods are activated, the scheduling type that reaches its condition first will dictate when the work order is generated. To enable a specific scheduling method, simply check the box next to either Days in Service or the desired instrument.
• Days In Service: The total count of uninterrupted days the equipment remains operational. Should the equipment go out of service at any point, the count of days in service resets, requiring a new period before any work orders can be generated.
• Instruments: Generating work orders based on readings from a meter or gauge.
▪ Meter: Define the interval to the desired value that the meter must reach to trigger work order creation. This interval is determined by analyzing the Last Work Order (WO) Reading and the most recent reading in the historical data relative to the Scheduling date. When the current usage surpasses this defined interval, a work order will be generated.
To generate current usage when scheduling by meter, it is essential to input the Last Work Order Reading, the defined Interval, and the Scheduling Date, as these fields are mandatory for accurate work order creation.
▪ Gauge: Generates a work order when a reading falls outside the specified minimum and maximum values established for the template.
For example, if a user wishes to create a work order when a vehicle's tire pressure falls outside the acceptable range, they would set the minimum value to 30 and the maximum value to 35. In this case, a work order will be generated whenever the gauge indicates a tire pressure reading of 29 or lower, or 36 or higher.
Scheduling Work Templates by Days in Service
To configure the current work template for scheduling based on a specific number of days between work orders, please follow the steps outlined below:
Work Templates scheduled by Days in Service are established by specifying a certain number of Days in Service along with the designated Scheduling Date.
Future work orders scheduled by Days in Service cannot be generated until all previously created work orders in the Work Management section have been completed and recorded in the Work Order History.
- To begin scheduling a Work Template based on Days in Service, first, ensure that you check the Scheduled box. Next, select the radio button labeled Days in Service/Instrument within the Types box to activate this scheduling option.
- Next, click on the blue Change link located beneath the Scheduling Date section to access the Change Scheduling Date form.
- Input the most recent date when the selected work order was last scheduled in the Scheduling Date field. For newly created work templates, you may use either a previous date or the current date as appropriate.
- Click the
button in the upper right-hand corner of the form.
- Next, in the Schedule Options: Days in Service group, check the Enabled check box and enter a numeric value in the Enabled field to define the numeric portion of the scheduling setup requirement. This is the number of days in-between preventative maintenance schedules
- The Work Template is now scheduled by Days in Service and will generate work orders according to the work template based upon the defined schedule.
Days in Service templates will consider the Create Through Days settings found in the Database Options when generating work orders.
Scheduling Work Templates by Instruments
To schedule the current work template by an instrument, follow the steps below:
- To schedule a Work Template by Instrument, start by checking the Scheduled box and then selecting the Days in Service/Instrument radio button in the Types box.
- Then, click the blue Change link underneath the Scheduling Date heading to open the Change Scheduling Date form.
- Enter the last known date on which the selected work order was previously scheduled in the Scheduling Date field. For new work templates, a past date or todays date would be acceptable.
- Click the Save button in the upper right-hand corner of the form.
- Next, in the Schedule Options: Instruments group, check the Instrument(s) check box(es) which need to be used to generate work orders. The work orders will be based upon the instruments current usage. Multiple meters and/or gauges can be used for template scheduling purposes
- The Work Template is now scheduled by Instruments and will generate work orders off of the work template according to the defined schedule.
